On Tue. Sept. 10, National Honors Society held their first meeting to discuss the application in order to become a candidate. Students who qualified and are interested will complete this application by Oct. 10.
“Students are invited to NHS because they have the required GPA. The application process is we give them about a month to write a personal statement. They have to prove that they have leadership, that they have done service, and that they are generally a good person because the four pillars of NHS are scholarship, leadership, service, and good moral character,” Karla DeCoster, NHS sponsor, said. “NHS is a nice program because it is nationality recognized by all colleges, so if you put it on your transcript or application they are going to see that you fulfill these four pillars.”
The high school provides students with many opportunities to work towards their futures; NHS is just one.
