Do you remember sitting on the floor, eyes locked on the TV that’s on something new? Whether it’s mom’s horror movie or grandma’s cooking show, there’s something important and memorable about it.
Being in the first generation to grow up with easy access to social media, electronics, and movies, many of the things introduced to students at a young age had extreme impacts on their mindset and upbringing.

What shows and movies hold important memories for students? Why do these moments stick with them?
“The Outsiders because I met a lot of friends from it and it brought old friendships back together,” said Mia Delker, 10.
Delker still finds the movie important as it highlighted an important time in their life and led to important relationships. Many students have such a connection to these shows because of the bonds the shows have made among others.
“Gilmore Girls because it’s shaped the relationship with me and my mom better,” said Paighton Geiter, 10.
Others have seen strengthened relationships between family members. With generational gaps as well as being raised similarly, a lot of families have important bonding moments over shows and movies.
“Clone Wars, Star Wars. My brother showed me it and we grew up watching it together, so it’s one of my favorite shows ever,” said Chase Laplante, 11.
Whether it be a new discovery or a one passed on from others, the importance of sharing interests and time is shown when it comes to growing up with shows and movies.
