Example of a house with a no candy sign. Sex offenders would have to do this if they lived in Missouri.

Laws for sex offenders in missouri state that on Halloween, sex offenders are to stay in their house with the door closed and the light off with a sign that states they don’t have candy and to go away. In Kansas there is no such law, and that sex offenders not on parole are free to pass out candy and decorate their houses.

The law in Missouri aids in making community members feel more coftorable in having their kids go out and collect candy. As children , teens, and adults go out in the night, it is important to stay cautious and be aware of the surroundings, so the community can stay safe.

Jordyn Vander Veur, Staff Writer
Hey! I'm Jordyn Vander Veur.  This will be my first year being a part of the SPUB staff. I can’t wait for all of the opportunities I will get as I'm getting more involved with school things, and I'm glad to be a part of something that can put a smile on people’s face. I took Journalism last year, and while that's my only school experience, I've loved writing since I can ever remember. I'm looking forward to a year of new decisions, and I'm excited to be able to tell my kids when I'm 30 I helped design the yearbook in highschool!
