The four suspects in the Louvre Heist have been filed charges, but the stolen jewels are still missing and probably long gone. Public prosecutor Laure Beccuau claimed that all leads are being explored and, because of the arrests, new searches and seizure of new objects of new items are being examined. Investigators have attempted to locate the objects that have been stolen, and assured the public that they have not given up on recovering the missing jewels and will do anything to find them. However, Christopher Marinello, CEO of Art Recovery International displayed their fear that the jewels have been dismantled and sold off.
This matters because it brings awareness on how these jewels will probably never be found because of the robbery and that 107 million dollars worth of priceless jewels will be most likely lost forever. Even if they’re found, they more than likely will not be in the same shape they were before they were stolen. The Louvre’s security system will need to better their techniques in the future if they don’t want something like this to happen again.
