Protests Erupt in Belarus
For the past two months protests have developed in the country of Belarus. On Oct. 3, over 100,000 people marched against the reelection of President Alexander Lukashenko. Lukashenko has served for six terms over the past 26 years and the standings of the election are widely regarded as rigged. The polls showed Lukashenko winning with 80 percent of the votes, yet through public polls that were leaked online, his approval was 3%, which has become a popular saying of the protesters.
Protests have grown even with the rising numbers of arrests and exiles. With every protest the words of the Belarus protesters reach further. These protesters chose to take a stand and march against their government no matter the consequences. Because of these brave people, the voices of Belarus are being heard all around the world. All it took was speaking up, now there voices are being heard across the world.
