For five years, a mystery regarding two teenage girls remained unsolved. That was until some recent discoveries were made by the Indiana police. Back in 2017, Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, went on a hike during a day off of school in which neither of them returned home. After being reported missing on Feb. 13, 2017, their bodies were found the next day near a hiking trail.

While some potentialities are not currently confirmed in the ongoing investigation, Doug Carter, State Police Superintendent, informed the public that Richard Matthew Allen, 50, was arrested on Friday under probable cause of these two murders. Investigators have used German’s phone to gather evidence such as two photos of a suspect walking down the murder location. A recording of a man, who some believe might be Allen saying “down the hill,” was also found in which the recording was suspected to be a communication between the man and the two girls. This useful information from German’s phone had potentially been taken just before both of their deaths. It is possible that the victims at the time knew what was approaching them.
