Alligator ‘arrested’ walking through Tampa

Alligator ‘arrested’ walking through Tampa

On Wednesday night, Tampa police were sent to a disturbance reported near the stadium of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The disturbance was on account of an alligator aimlessly roaming the street. This 9-foot alligator was approached by half a dozen police officers and watched by crowds of spectators. Surrounded by flashing red and blue lights, the alligator whipped its tail several times toward a police officer as they poked the reptile with a long baton.

Officers eventually captured this alligator by first lassoing its mouth, and taping together its legs at which an officer compared that to “handcuffing him”. As they put weight down on the alligator, they were then assisted by Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation program who took the alligator in. Officers felt that this alligator could have destroyed the surrounding cars or could have stood as a danger to those around the reptile. It is unsure what ended up happening to the alligator.
