On Sept. 10 at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson, KS., a canned food item exploded at the Fry Shack. The can was placed near a food warmer, which caused it to become over pressurised resulting in an explosion. Two people were hospitalized due to the occurrence with minor injuries that were treated and allowed them to be discharged that night. Four others were mildly injured but denied medical treatment. There was an estimated 350,000 people in attendance at the fair.
The fair is a popular event for Kansans across the state. Instances like this are rare but may cause new regulations to be put in place around food trucks and stands at the fair.
