At 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, Belton officers arrested 18-year-old Cameron Kopfer after receiving a tip that the they had a loaded gun. That morning, a student at the Scott Educational Center told administrators of the school after Kopfer had showed the gun to the student. Officers were then notified and Kopfer was apprehended in the center’s parking lot. Kopfer was charged with unlawful wielding of a firearm. Allegedly, Kopfer never threatened any individual, but they did discuss robbing people for drugs and money.
It is vital for local police and administrators to be watchful toward the actions other schools take to ensure the safety of their students. If those that are responsible for protecting all students in Spring Hill are up-to-date on the communication systems that can be used to ensure that students are protected from outside threats, it allows students to attend school in an entirely protected and same environment.
