A massive winter storm covered much of the U.S. in snow and ice, causing power outages, flight cancellations, and school closures. At least 30 people passed away as freezing temperatures followed the storm. Major airports shut down, travel stalled, and many communities dealt with dangerous cold and limited electricity.
For students, schools were closed, activities were cancelled, and power outages made it more challenging for many to go with out their daily routines. Travel problems affected families and college students, while extreme cold changed transportation, access to meals, and safe housing for many.
