Apparition Coffee will open at 328 W. 85th St. in Kansas City’s Waldo neighborhood, replacing the long-running Second Best Coffee. Owner Brian Denman, a former Waterbird co-owner and Black Dog barista, is renovating the space with a metal music-inspired aesthetic while serving coffee, teas, matcha, pastries, and popular burritos for customers.
For local high school students and families, a new nearby coffee shop creates another safe place to study, meet friends, and grab affordable food before or after activities. It also reflects small business owners turnover in Waldo, showing how neighborhood spaces change and how new owners adapt offerings to existing community expectations.
