On Aug. 31, the soccer team hosted their first game of the season at home versus Gardner. While it was the first game, the Dazzlers also danced at the game in attempt to become more involved (Photo by L. Haney).

On Aug. 31, the soccer teams played against Gardner. The JV team lost 0-9, and the varsity team won 2-1.

“In the varsity game, we started off behind in the first half 1-0, and we were working really hard in the mid field winning lots of fouls. Eventually, Gardner earned enough fouls to get them a red card. We then had a man advantage on the field, and we had a freshman, Seth Lovitt score,” Matthew Lundy, Assistant soccer coach, said.

According to many players, the varsity game was strong against Gardner. This was the first soccer game at which the  Dazzlers performed.

“At the beginning of the year, we [thought] soccer would be fun and the cheerleaders and dancers haven’t been to a soccer game, so we chose a couple of early [games] in the season to dance at,” Avery Marney, Dance Captain, said.

“We split squads on Tuesday. We had our purple squad perform on Tuesday with five dancers. [The dance] was really good, and we performed the dance we performed at the football game. It was really fun and I hope to do it again.”

Not only did the Dazzlers like being at the soccer game, but the players enjoyed it too.

“It was nice to see [the dancers], it was a good change of pace, I feel like a lot more people are coming out to see the soccer games and it’s really fun to see,”  August Oppeau, 12, said.
