On Sept. 29, the destruction of Hurricane Ian became known. Ian has been one of the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the United States, leaving people trapped in their homes, bridges unuseable, and a hospital flooded. The winds of the hurricane reached 415 mph.

The aftermath of the hurricane has been devastating. The predicted death toll of Ian is in the hundreds. In Port Charlotte, a flooded hospital is no longer taking patients and is at full capacity. Residents calling rescue teams for help have been met with silence. First responders are overworked, not having access to some bridges have left thousands stranded. The effects of Ian will only continue to worsen.
