In Fort Lauderdale, there was a severe thunderstorm that flooded the streets with more than 25 inches of rainfall. This downpour was ranked in the top three floods in the U.S within a 24 hour period. Florida has the perfect weather for thunderstorms, with its warm weather and plenty of water nearby it allows it to not lose steam and keep falling.

Weather forecaster David Roth, predicted that this rainfall would be similar to the 16 inches of rainfall that Florida got on April 25, 1979. Usually, storms stay in oneplace for only 20 minutes or so and move on, but with the warm weather and humid conditions, the storm stayed in Fort Lauderdale for over six hours. States with humid conditions are more likely to get these crazy storms and should prepare accordingly.
