On Sunday morning, linebacker of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Shaq Barrett’s 2-year-old daughter fell in the family’s pool. Officers responded to the emergency call around 9:30 a.m. Barrett’s daughter was taken to the hospital where life-saving measures were performed. Arrayah, the youngest of the player’s four children, was later pronounced dead. At this time, there is no evidence of malicious intent in Arrayah’s death and it is deemed to be a pure accident.

Tragic incidents like these are sadly not uncommon. Making sure that youth and adults around unsupervised pools, know CPR, and know how to swim could save someone’s life in unexpected events like these. Thoughts and prayers go to the Barrett family in this unimaginably difficult time.
