Olathe has partnered with Variety KC to place 90 adaptive signs at 45 different Olathe parks and facilities. The partnership was started up by Todd Kuhn who is a Community Enhancement Officer. Kuhn’s wife is a Speech Language Pathologist and they were inspired by other communication boards that were seen in the Kansas City area.

These boards provide more accessibility to community members with communication needs. Communication boards helps those with difficulties using spoken words and it gives them a way to communicate. Sign language boards allow people to learn and engage with individuals with hearing impairments. Installing these boards are steps towards inclusion of everyone in our community.

Kayley Tran, Staff Writer
Hello! My name is Kayley Tran. This is my first year joining the SPUB staff. I am looking forward to improving my writing skills and being more involved with the high school. I was in Journalism my freshman year and I was a part of the yearbook staff in 8th grade. Journalism is important because it captures the voice of people and informs others. I am excited to see where this year takes me and I hope to learn as much as I can throughout the year!
