Kansas City lights up with the colors red and gold as people root for the Chiefs at the Super Bowl. One of the most eye drawing sights is the light wall of the downtown Marriott. The display began 20 years ago with incandescent lights, but has now transformed to all LEDs. Over the two decades, the same computer program and designer created this display.

Places across Kansas are starting to deck out in red and gold to support the Chiefs. Businesses and buildings cheer the team on in different ways. Downtown Kansas City lights up their buildings for different reasons throughout the year. From campaigning for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to cheering on sports teams, downtown Kansas City finds ways to show support.

Kayley Tran, Staff Writer
Hello! My name is Kayley Tran. This is my first year joining the SPUB staff. I am looking forward to improving my writing skills and being more involved with the high school. I was in Journalism my freshman year and I was a part of the yearbook staff in 8th grade. Journalism is important because it captures the voice of people and informs others. I am excited to see where this year takes me and I hope to learn as much as I can throughout the year!
