One common opinion shared among many, whether five episodes in or five seasons deep, is that the end of Stranger Things was the end of an era.
A hit show the second it came out, it has been one of the huge shows from the 2010’s-2020’s. Many students grew up watching it, and many parents got invested from the start. Some of these students would be our very own staff. With these factors, how does the staff feel about the show and its ending?
Among the staff, there are a multitude of mixed feelings. Plenty have watched it since middle school and have been invested, seeing every episode. Others are only a few episodes or seasons in, while still others haven’t seen it at all.
The staff members that have seen it have the same kind of feeling about it. The feeling of growing up and the importance that this show has held to them—and even their family—for a long time is very clear.
“It’s bittersweet. I’m happy it’s over and there’s an ending, but also it’s almost grown up with me. I first started watching because my family was, and then I just continued watching it,” Ryker Marmon, 10, said.
Even with that, plenty still found it either boring, drawn out too long, or not worth the watch.
Since there are years between seasons and peoples’ interests change, another present response among staff is that interest has slowly dropped.
“I used to love it growing up, but when they kept delaying the new season, I lost interest. I’ve tried to watch the new season many times, and I just can’t bring myself to pay attention,” said Mia Delker, 10.
Despite this, most opinions are positive. It holds importance with family, friends, and carries important messages for people.
One of the most controversial parts about it is the ending. Was it worth it? Many fans were disappointed and unhappy, while others found it perfectly fitting.
“I think the ending can be interpreted in many different ways, but personally, I enjoyed it and understood the message that the writers were trying to convey to the fans,” said Wren Zerr, 10.
Whether the show is your favorite or the last thing you’d humanly watch, it seems that a majority of people, including the staff, see the importance of the show and its ending. Many grew up with it and formed bonds with it. This end of an era has changed a fun, core part of many lives.
