What If: Two Months of School?

What if we had two months of school with a two month break following it all year round? This would mean that we would go to school in January and February then have March and April off and so on. The benefits to having these long breaks would mean that students get time to recuperate and work more hours to earn money for college or any post high schools plans.

However, the two months students get off shouldn’t be just handed out. Students would still need to be engaged with school some way or another since they will be experiencing “summer breaks” three times a year. If students get free breaks then they ought to be doing something meaningful during that time. For example, projects that need to be completed by the time they come back from break would be one way that a student can still stay engaged with the current topic they were on.

Furthermore, finals and graduation would have to be moved to different dates to accommodate the changing schedules. For instance, graduation would have to be in June as opposed to May along with spring finals and the winter finals would have to be in October. All of these changes would take some time getting adjusted to but there would be many pros and cons to a change in the schedule and breaks.
