Emporia Experiences Water Breaks

Water towers can be seen throughout cities, but are overlooked. These are the center of something that we depend on in our daily lives (B. Stansberry).

Several water breaks in Emporia are leaving people without water for hours. A 33-year-old water tower has been taken offline due to interior repairs. This caused water pressure to fluctuate and has caused 36 water breaks in surrounding neighborhoods. The Emporia City Manager says there is no immediate fix to this, but the city is planning to open water hydrants near the main water plant to help with the water pressure.

Water is a necessity and sometimes the importance and dependance is forgotten. Being left with hours without water is not something people want to experience. Water breaks can effect many things from people’s daily lives and cause larger problem.

Kayley Tran, Staff Writer
Hello! My name is Kayley Tran. This is my first year joining the SPUB staff. I am looking forward to improving my writing skills and being more involved with the high school. I was in Journalism my freshman year and I was a part of the yearbook staff in 8th grade. Journalism is important because it captures the voice of people and informs others. I am excited to see where this year takes me and I hope to learn as much as I can throughout the year!
