The Water Bottle War

When you walk into school, you will most likely see a ton of water bottles. Whether it’s giant Stanleys in hands, brightly colored Hydroflasks scattered across the table, or the occasional Owala and Hydrapeak in backpack side pockets, they might as well be on the school supply list.

“Despite me having a Stanley Tumbler, I think Hydroflasks are best because they’re not that expensive, they keep your water cold for maybe a week sometimes, they don’t spill, and they have cute colors,” Jayden Brown, 10, said.

Brown claims the classic model of the Hydroflask, 32 ounce with a straw, is a timeless item.

“They’re not a trend anymore,” Brown stated, “People use them for a good water bottle.”

However, some students who prefer to follow trends, disagree and declare the opposite. Freshman Alexis Howard speaks up.

“I like the Stanley better than Hydroflasks because it keeps my water cooler and its preppier. Hydro Flasks were, like, so 2021,” Howard said.

determine which one to get.

“I understand why people like Hydroflasks and Stanleys, but there are cheaper options that are basically the same thing,” Leila Haddad, 10, said.

Some prefer the inexpensive options, such as Owalas, Yetis, or HydraPeaks and Contigos.

“I don’t refuse to get a Stanley, but I already have a water bottle and I think Owalas are good too. They are not as bulky,” Haddad said.

Minds can also change over the years, and now a few students feel strongly about one or the other.

“I hate Contigo because it doesn’t keep anything cold, but I used to be a proud Yeti fan,” Haddad states.

No matter people’s opinions, there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to choosing a water bottle. Whether it makes a difference what color it is, if it has a handle or straw, or how long it keeps your drink cold, hydrating is an important part of everyday life.

Sophie Rivers, Staff Writer
Hey! I am Sophie Rivers and this will be my first time on staff. I wanted to do SPUB because it seemed like such a fun community and because I love design. When I did the yearbook in middle school, it was my favorite class and I enjoyed it a ton. Along with that, I took journalism freshman year. I’m really excited to explore and report the things most students don’t know about, and that’s why I believe journalism is important. Outside of school, I love to run, read, and get coffee.
